Our next meeting is going to be on May 12th at 6:30 in the Orris Theater. We will have a business meeting at the start of the meeting with a discussion of the Battle of Athens, Missouri.
We had a great discussion of the Battle of Wilson's Creek at our meeting on April 13th. The information on the Battle of Athens will take a little more research.
Ste. Genevieve Missouri Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Camp # 326 is named after Lt. Col. J. Felix St. James of the 13th Missouri Infantry. He was mortally wounded on 6 April 1862 at the Battle of Shiloh in Tennessee and died on 8 April 1862 in the hospital in Savannah, TN and was buried in his home town of Ste. Genevieve in Memorial Cemetery on 14 April 1862.

The new part was built during the Civil War. My main interest is Civil War history. I have written a couple books about the Civil War and Ste. Genevieve has a rich Civil War history.
